For publishers

Contributor portalAuthors check their own royalties

Every author, illustrator and translator you pay gets a login to see what they have earned, download each statement, check each payment and keep their payment details current. You answer fewer emails, and they can check whenever they like.

  • Included with royalty management
  • No per-seat fees
  • Contributors see only their own numbers

The answers to “where’s my money?”, before anyone asks

Every royalty period brings the same questions: how much, which statement, has it been paid, do you have my new bank details. The portal answers them from the same records you run royalties on.

Earnings and statements

Every statement, any time, without a resend.

Each statement you send lands in the contributor’s portal as a PDF, beside every one before it. Older statements from before Familiar can be uploaded to the same history. Their dashboard shows what you have paid them, units sold and a year of sales by distributor, channel or format.

  • Statements kept for download
  • Payments with dates, periods and your notes
  • Sales marked preliminary until a statement includes them

Payment details

Contributors keep their own bank details current.

A new bank account or a move to PayPal is something the contributor updates, not an email thread you transcribe. They choose from the payment methods you accept, and account numbers and tax IDs stay masked until someone with access reveals them.

  • Check, ACH, wire, PayPal, Venmo and more, limited to the ones you accept
  • Tax ID with its type: SSN, EIN, ITIN or foreign
  • Payment thresholds stay yours to set

Invitations and onboarding

Invite them once. Collect what you need on day one.

Invite a contributor from a book and they get an email right away, or let the invitation ride along with their first statement. Add your own onboarding questions and new contributors answer them before they start, with the answers saved to their record.

  • Adding an email never sends anything by itself
  • Your own required questions for new contributors
  • A publisher info page you write for every contributor

Agents

Agents see the books they represent, and nothing else.

Assign a book to an agency and the agent gets their own view of that client’s book: royalties, the statements sent to them and the payments you record. It is read-only, and their statement history stays after the assignment ends.

  • Book-by-book assignments
  • Statements sent to the author and the agent
  • Only the represented books, never the rest of your list

How contributors get access

  1. Add the contributor

Add them under People with their email. Saving an email sends nothing on its own.

  2. Send the invite

Invite them from the book, or send their first statement, which carries the invitation.

  3. They set up

They create a password, answer your onboarding questions, and add their payment details.

  4. Statements arrive

Every statement and payment you record from then on appears in their portal.
