This information is used solely for royalty payment processing and tax compliance, and is never sold or shared with third parties for marketing purposes. We maintain appropriate technical and organizational security measures designed to protect sensitive information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.
Payment Data. We may collect data necessary to process your payment if you choose to make purchases, such as your payment instrument number, and the security code associated with your payment instrument. Social Media Login Data. We may provide you with the option to register with us using your existing social media account details, like your Facebook, X, or other social media account. 7. Browser Extension Data Collection
In Short: Our browser extension collects session cookies from distributor websites (like Amazon KDP) to automatically sync your sales and royalty data.
The Familiar Publishing Assistant browser extension allows you to connect your distributor accounts (such as Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing) to automatically import your sales and royalty reports into Familiar.
What data does the extension collect?
- Session Cookies: When you connect a distributor account, the extension captures your authenticated session cookies from that distributor's website. These cookies allow us to access your sales reports on your behalf.
- No Passwords: We never collect, store, or have access to your distributor account passwords. The extension only captures session cookies after you have already logged in.
How do we protect this data?
- Encryption at Rest: Session cookies are encrypted using AES-256 encryption before being stored in our database.
- Encryption in Transit: All data transmitted between the extension and our servers uses HTTPS/TLS encryption.
- Limited Access: Encrypted cookies are only decrypted by our secure backend systems when fetching your sales data.
How do we use this data?
- To automatically fetch and import your sales and royalty reports from connected distributor accounts
- To display your aggregated sales data in the Familiar dashboard
- To calculate royalty payments owed to contributors based on your actual sales
How long do we keep this data?
Session cookies are stored only while your distributor connection is active. When you disconnect a distributor account from Familiar, all associated session cookies and credentials are permanently deleted from our systems.
Your Control: You can disconnect any distributor integration at any time from your Familiar account settings. Disconnecting will immediately delete all stored credentials for that connection.
8. How Do We Handle Your Social Logins?
In Short: If you choose to register or log in to our Services using a social media account, we may have access to certain information about you.
Our Services offer you the ability to register and log in using your third-party social media account details (like your Facebook or X logins). Where you choose to do this, we will receive certain profile information about you from your social media provider.
9. Is Your Information Transferred Internationally?
In Short: We may transfer, store, and process your information in countries other than your own.
Our servers are located in the United States.
