Simon & Schuster Royalty Statements

How to download your Cost of Sales (COS) report from the S&S Publisher Portal

Simon & Schuster publishes monthly Cost of Sales (COS) statements through the S&S Publisher Portal. The COS workbook contains one sheet per month with per-ISBN gross sales and returns data.

Which Report to Upload

Upload the COS report (.xls)

Upload the file named <imprint> COS.xls (e.g. Seacrow COS.xls). This single workbook contains one sheet per month, so you only need to upload it once — Familiar ingests every month at the same time. Do not upload the Statement or Expense Detail files; those contain different data.

How to Download Your Statement

1

Log In to the S&S Publisher Portal

Sign in at clientportal-clients.schuster.com.

2

Open the Documents Page

From the left sidebar, click Documents and stay on the Financial Statements tab. Statements are posted during the last week of the month for the prior month.

3

Download the COS File

Select any recent Month and Year and click Search. From the results, download the file ending in COS.xls (for example, Seacrow COS.xls).

4

Upload to Familiar

Upload the COS .xls file directly — you don't need to select a month. Familiar reads every monthly sheet in the workbook and imports gross sales and return data for each ISBN.

What Familiar Extracts

From each monthly sheet in the COS workbook:

  • • ISBN and title for each book
  • • Gross sales units and amount
  • • Returned units and return amount
  • • Reporting month (derived from the sheet's Fiscal Month ID)
