Amazon KDP Royalty Reports

How to find and download your KDP royalty statements

Amazon KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing) provides monthly royalty reports that show your book sales and earnings across all Amazon marketplaces. This step-by-step guide explains how to find, download, and upload your KDP royalty statements to Familiar for automatic royalty calculation and multi-contributor tracking.

Step-by-Step Guide

1

Log into KDP

Visit kdp.amazon.com and sign in to your account.

2

Navigate to Reports

Click on the "Reports" tab in the main navigation menu.

3

Find Prior Months' Royalties

Look for the "Prior Months' Royalties" section. This contains your historical royalty data.

4

Download Monthly Reports

For each month you want to upload, click the download button (usually a down arrow or "Download" link). The file will be downloaded as a CSV or Excel file.

What's in Your KDP Report

Included Data:

  • • Book titles and ASINs
  • • Sales quantities by format (Kindle, Paperback, etc.)
  • • Royalty earnings per sale
  • • Customer geography
  • • Promotional discounts applied

Report Frequency:

  • • Monthly reports available ~60 days after month end
  • • Reports cover sales from 2 months prior
  • • Data includes Kindle, Paperback, and Hardcover sales

Common Issues

Can't find Prior Months' Royalties?

Make sure you're looking in the Reports section, not the Bookshelf. The Prior Months' Royalties section is separate from your current month's dashboard data.

No download button available?

Reports are typically available 60 days after the end of the month. If you don't see a download option, the data may not be ready yet or you may not have had any sales that month.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

1

Downloading the wrong file type

Make sure you download the full Prior Months' Royalties report, not the current month dashboard data. The file should be named something like "Prior_Months_Royalties_2024-01.csv"

2

Missing recent months

Remember that KDP reports have a 60-day delay. If it's March 15th, you can only download reports up through January. February's data won't be available yet.

3

Forgetting international marketplaces

Each Amazon marketplace (US, UK, DE, FR, etc.) has separate reports. You need to download reports from each marketplace where you have sales. Familiar can handle reports from all marketplaces.
